Travel Photography Gear

Wondering what’s the best camera for blogging? Travel blogging presents unique needs when it comes to photography gear. Things like weight, weather protection, versatility and durability come into play when you’re lugging your camera gear all over the place.

I’ve tried so many different products over the years before getting to place where I feel like I have a solid set of gear I love and couldn’t imagine life without.

Here is all of the photography gear that I use to create the content you see on my website and Instagram account. Each item listed here is something that I personally own. I only recommend products that I use, love and spend my own money on.

Cameras USED FOR BLOGGING

DSLR CAMERA BODY // This camera body is my ride or die. I have been using it for over two years now and it has continually pushed me to become a better photographer. I can’t imagine using anything else. Almost all of the photos on the blog and my Instagram were shot using this. Click here to check pricing.

POINT-AND-SHOOT CAMERA // This is my go-to camera when I want to head out with something small and lightweight. It’s a great blogging camera, as well as vlogging. It has repeatedly been praised as one of, if not the best, point and shoot camera on the market. I have the third edition, but there have been a few more releases since. You can save big bucks by purchasing an older edition though, which are excellent cameras. Click here to check pricing.

WATERPROOF CAMERA // It’s not often that I find myself in need of a truly waterproof camera, but I have had one for a few years. I use it heavily on trips when I’m in and out of the water. My Dubrovnik beach vacation is good example of where this really came in handy. Click here to check pricing.

DRONE // This is the second drone I’ve owned. After previously having a larger drone, I’m really happy with this smaller, lighter version. I found that I never wanted to travel with the first drone I had because it added weight to my already heavy bag. This one is tiny while still packing a punch when it comes to quality. I take it everywhere now. Click here to check pricing.

DISPOSABLE CAMERAS // Film is so fun to me. Recently I’ve been keeping disposable cameras at home at all times to be used for quick trips or weekend fun with friends. There’s a joy that comes with having to make the most of a limited number of shots and then waiting to see the results. These are my favorite to use due to quality and color. INSTANT FILM CAMERA // Another fun addition to some of my travels is my instant film camera. I don’t always take it with me, it depends on where I’m going and if I have extra space. I prefer to pack this when I go on shorter weekend trips. Instant film is so much fun! Click here to check pricing.

LENSES USED FOR BLOGGING

MY #1 GO-TO LENS // Without a doubt this is my favorite, most versatile lens. If I am traveling I often opt to only pack this lens because it can handle almost any situation—portraits, landscapes, food photography. For example, this is the lens I used for all of the shots in the best Paris photo spots. It is not cheap, but I would buy it again with a heartbeat. If I could only use one lens for the rest of my life, this is it! Click here to check pricing.

WIDE-ANGLE ZOOM LENS // This is the first lens I purchased when I upgraded to a Sony mirrorless. I’m very fond of this lens, especially when I plan to shoot landscapes or interiors. This is the lens I used solely when I went on my trip to Tacoma, Washington. Click here to check pricing.

PRIME LENS // This is another excellent lens and I have such a great time shooting with it. It’s a super sharp fixed lens that I’ve used as my sole lens on a few different trips now. This lens was used to document my two days in Lisbon, as well as the beautiful viewpoints in Porto. I use this lens less than my 24-70, but it’s one I would always want to have in my arsenal. MUST-HAVE CAMERA ACCESSORIES

CAMERA BACKPACK // This camera backpack has made traveling with my gear so much more tolerable. I have tried using so many backpacks and purses while traveling, none of which were ever made specifically for travel photography. My back and shoulders would always end up in pain and my camera would be difficult to access. This bag is made for on-the-go camera travel. It’s comfortable and fits so many things; I use it as my carry-on now and add other items in addition to my camera. Click here to check pricing.

CAMERA STRAP // Much like the backpack, I avoided purchasing a high-quality camera strap for far too long. After constant neck pain, I finally invested in one of the best camera straps on the market. I wish I would have made this purchase sooner because it has completely changed long travel days for me. Carrying my camera around for 10+ hours is now so much less painful. PORTABLE EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE // I back up all of my travel photos to this thing as soon as possible. It’s rugged and durable which I feel is crucial for travel photography. Click here to check pricing.
